Vasudhendra is the first openly gay author in Kannada literature. His book Mohanaswamy is a landmark queer work and has been widely appreciated by both critics and readers.
In his new book I Love My Amma, he reflects on his mother and his childhood. Originally published in Kannada in 2006, the book has gone through 32 reprints, a testament to its enduring popularity. It has also been translated into Telugu and Tamil, and is now being published in English.
